The IRC Yemen Country Program was established in 2012 and is currently implementing integrated health, nutrition, environmental health (WASH), economic recovery and development, women's protection and empowerment, and education programming in eight governorates. The IRC Yemen Country Program operates with its country office in Sana’a and its main field office in Aden. Other subfield offices include Abyan, Hodeida, and Al Dhale, with the Al Dhale office covering Lahj and the Abyan office covering activities in Shabwa.

Job Overview/Summary:

The pharmacy assistant will supervise field pharma stores in Sana’a, AlMahweet, and Amran governorates, ensuring good storage, distribution, and reporting of pharmaceuticals and following up on stock management in all supported health units.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Distribute pharmaceutical items and supplies as per consumption to all health facilities (HFs) with appropriate documentation using standard monitoring tools.
  • Ensure sound data collection (hard copies) is in place for ongoing distribution and monitoring of pharmaceuticals in IRC-supported areas. Collecting, verifying, and entering data on drug consumption into data collection tools.
  • Conduct regular supportive supervision of all health units and the right storage environment to ensure accurate stock management and updated stock tools with appropriate feedback and mentorship.
  • Ensuring medicines are stored appropriately and securely at the health unit’s stores.
  • Ensure that an up-to-date inventory is maintained for the health unit field stores.
  • Assist the pharmacists at health units in being supplied with the necessary tools to monitor supply movements, reporting formats, and capacity development.
  • Ensure all stock movement records are appropriately maintained and organized, including hard copies of stock cards in all HFs.
  • Collect and archive weekly & monthly consumption reports from all IRC-supported health units.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisors in accordance with the position.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Diploma in Pharmacy or Medical Assistant.
  • Minimum three years of professional experience with drug management systems
  • INGO experience preferred.
  • Basic English preferred.
